Direct Access

You don’t need a doctors referral to come to Lake City Physical Therapy.

Idaho and Washington are direct access states, meaning you can refer yourself to PT for any of our services and insurance will cover it.

Use the form below for direct access to one of our 7 clinics.

What does direct access mean for physical therapy?

Direct access means the removal of the physician referral mandated by state law to access physical therapist services for evaluation and treatment. Every state, the District of Columbia, and the US Virgin Islands allow for evaluation and some form of treatment without physician referral.

Which Insurance Plans Cover Direct Access?

Although insurance is always changing, most insurance in Idaho and Washington cover direct access physical therapy. This means you can get PT for health challenges you’re facing and your insurance will cover the cost.

As long as the physical therapist establishes a plan of care for the patient, care is covered under Medicare.
